We’ve released a new video that shares what a principal and a teacher think about the power of City Connects.
“Kids aren’t coming to school and thinking about Alright, I’m just going to work my best today,” Dr. Leah Blake McKetty, a principal in Boston Public Schools, said in the video. “They’re thinking about food. They’re thinking about a jacket to put on. They’re thinking about where they’re living.”
City Connects addresses this challenge by placing Coordinators in schools who help students and families access food, clothing, and other basic needs, so that students can focus on school.
“I would absolutely, 100 percent, hands down recommend City Connects. It has made significant improvement in our school,” Blake McKetty adds.
We reported the same finding in our 2022 Progress Report, which explains:
“Across all districts, 99% of principals reported satisfaction with City Connects and would recommend City Connects to another principal.”
In addition:
“Like principals, teachers reported high levels of satisfaction: 90% of teachers report that they are satisfied with City Connects and would recommend the intervention to a colleague.”
But it’s the video that lets City Connects staff as well as Blake McKetty and Rachel Cash-Bacon, a teacher in Boston Public Schools, speak for themselves. So please check it out.
